Nodes Shape Mixer

Premium Node

This premium node will be released to all users in 3 months.

Upgrade to Access

The Shape Mixer node preparing multiple shapes for instancing. It takes any number of incoming shapes and assigns unique name (attribute) to them, which can then be used by other nodes like Copy to Points to create complex distributions.

Its primary purpose is to assign a name and a weight to each shape. This is especially useful when you want to randomly scatter different types of shapes with varying probabilities.

It doesn’t change the geometry of the shapes, but it adds metadata that downstream nodes can read.

Parameters

ParameterDescription
LabelThe display name for the node.
ModeControls how weights are assigned to incoming shapes.
PiecesManually name incoming shapes and set their selection weight.
SeedChanges the random outcome.

Example

StepDescriptionVisual
1. Input ShapesConnect one or more shapes to the input of the Shape Mixer. These can be individual shapes or the output of a Merge node.Three input shapes: a star, a circle, and a square.
2. Configure Mixer

In Manual mode, assign a unique name and a weight to each shape. The weight determines its probability of being chosen by a `Copy to Points` node in "Random from Shape Mixer" mode.

Star
name: "star_shape"
weight: 0.6
Circle
name: "circle_shape"
weight: 0.3
Square
name: "square_shape"
weight: 0.1
3. Final ResultThe `Copy to Points` node uses the weights to randomly distribute the shapes. Shapes with higher weights (like the star) appear more frequently.A spiral of points, with stars, circles, and squares copied onto them according to their weights.

Usage with Merge

The Shape Mixer is designed to work seamlessly with the Merge node. You can connect multiple, separate shape streams into a Merge node, and then connect the single output of the Merge node into the Shape Mixer. The mixer will correctly identify and process each individual shape from the merged stream.

You also can plug any number of shapes into Shape Mixer input itself.
